Otto von Kinzel

Born in Germany, Otto Von Kinzel is a direct descendant of Martin Luther, a German priest and professor of theology. In 1521, Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the All Saints Church at the University of Wittenberg which almost immediately resulted in his excommunication by the Pope and condemnation as an outlaw by the emperor. The claim that salvation from God’s wrath for a life of sin could be purchased through local salesman Johann Tetzel repulsed Luther, and a precedent for fighting the establishment, no matter the repercussions, was set for Luther’s ancestors to follow.
Von Kinzel grew up fighting the organizations out to rule by corruption and hypocrisy; the Catholic Church with its ridiculous hierarchy of debauchery and public manipulation, residing in a tax haven; Government leaders who would rather treat our freedom as a way to fund pork barrel conglomerates with the blood of citizens taxes; the forces that use intimidation to control those who are weaker and whose voices are not heard.
A nihilist and fighter for social reform, Von Kinzel was quoted at a Washington D.C. rally: “sometimes, you have to step over the bodies of the infected to save the souls of the pure. They will be angry; but for those brave enough to fight, death is just a temporary inconvenience. Freedom lasts forever. It’s our legacy to be written”.

A veteran of the New England music scene for over a decade, Otto Kinzel has recorded and toured nonstop with several Industrial and Metal bands from the region. Not only is he an experienced guitar player, but also has worked as a front man and lead vocalist; a drum machine and sequencer programmer; a producer of several recordings; and the owner and operator of Bluntface Records, which serves as Otto's main forum for releasing his own music.

In 2009 Otto formed his new project, Chemical Distance, inspired by his love of Industrial/Electronic based music, but with a much more sinister edge. Chemical Distance released the full-length debut album The Pain & The Progress in March of 2010, with Kinzel not only playing most of the instruments in studio but also producing the album as well. Chemical Distance spent the entire year promoting The Pain & The Progress relentlessly.
In latter 2011, Otto joined veteran Boston-based band Lucretia’s Daggers as guitarist and programmer, in addition to producing their new studio effort, My Reflections: LD's 10th year anniversary of tracks from 2006's Sad Flower Songs as well as tracks from various compilations.
2011 saw the release of Otto Kinzel's first true solo album; a concept album that will be centered around the Zodiac Killer and the public fear surrounding the Bay Area in the late 1960's/early 70's.

I hope to release something that does the genre proud and hopefully stake at least a small claim in a scene that has given so much to me..."
“..BUT I also love bands like Mr. Bungle, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Fu Manchu as much as the bands listed above, and have other material written and recorded to reflect those influences. My hope is for each CD to do well and to continue to give me an avenue to release other recordings. I get really bored playing just one type of music. I need to jump around and keep things fresh. So while making one or two albums of industrial music is fun, I would get tired really quick if I had to stick to that style for the rest of my life".
